Here is the link to The Badge Life. https://www.thebadgelife.com/?ref=mps6ijw7ivep   My next guests is Jeffrey Deskovic. Jeffrey is an American man from upstate New York known for having been wrongfully convicted in 1990 at the age of seventeen of raping, beating, and strangling Angela Correa, a 15-year-old high school classmate.   He made a false confession to police, which he withdrew, and his DNA was excluded from that left at the scene. He was nonetheless convicted, based on police testimony that he had confessed. He served sixteen years, although he continued to maintain his innocence and appealed his conviction. He requested post-conviction DNA testing, but the DA's office refused to accept his lay request. After a new DA was elected and Jeffrey gained support by the Innocence Project in 2006 DNA testing was conducted for Jeffrey. It excluded his DNA from the evidence at the crime scene. Significantly, the forensic DNA was found to match that of an inmate already serving time for murder. The latter man confessed to the attack on Correa and was convicted of her death. Jeffrey was exonerated and released in 2006. He has become an advocate for criminal justice reform. In 2014 a jury found in favor of Jeffrey and awarded him $41.6 million in a federal civil suit against the county for wrongful imprisonment. Due to his pretrial settlement with the county, Jeff was limited to receive $10 million. He has set up a foundation to work for criminal justice reform.   The award-winning short film, Conviction, tells the story of Jeffrey and this must-see documentary was made by Jia Wertz.   https://www.imdb.com/title/tt12269178/   You can find Jeff’s foundation here:   https://www.deskovicfoundation.org/   https://www.linkedin.com/in/jeffreydeskovic/   Stay tuned for more great shows on The Criminal Justice Evolution Podcast   www.cjevolution.com   Patrick

The short was selected at numerous festivals including New Filmmakers NY, Cannes International Independent Film Festival, Independent Cinema Showcase, New York Cinematography Awards, Best Shorts Fest, among others, prior to being featured on Amazon Prime. Criminal Justice Evolution Podcast: Microcast Monday - Focus On These Areas of Your Life Going into 2021

Hello everyone and welcome back to Microcast Monday. A short burst of motivation and inspiration to get you started on your new week. Special thanks to all the brave men and women who work in the criminal justice field. Thank you for what you do. Remember you are honored cherished and you are loved.  This is the last Microcast Monday before we head into the new year and I want to thank EVERYONE for making this podcast the success it is. Because of YOU we are a TOP Ranked Criminal Justice Podcast.  As you head into the new year, you need to focus on YOU. Then you need to focus on the following FIVE things that have to do with YOU. 1) Health - Your body runs it all - If you aren't healthy or you constantly feel thoughts of being unhealthy, EVERYTHING else will suffer.  2) Your Mind - Mindset is key. Remember you are a MAGNET. Like attracts Like. If you are constantly thinking about the things you don't want in your life - guess what? You will get what you don't want. 3) Family and Friends - Why didn't I put this first? Because if you don't have yourself in a good place how can you be good for your family and friends. I am not trying to imply that family and friends are not important, because they obviously are. However, you need to take care of yourself FIRST.  4) Finances - Money isn't everything, but it is important in our lives. If your finances are a mess then it will no doubt contribute to your stress and worry going into the new year. Make getting your finances in order a priority in your life.  5) Work - Not that work isn't important, but if you are not taking care of yourself then your work will suffer. I speak from experience. And, if you hate your job, a lot of people do, then it's time to make a change. There are plenty of opportunities out there.    There are more we can put on this list, but I think these are important for you to get you started in 2021. They will be the foundation of your success.    Remember that you can do anything you want in your life. Reach out to me, I would love to hear from you.    Stay tuned for more great guests on The Criminal Justice Evolution Podcast   www.cjevolution.com   Patrick

Criminal Justice Evolution Podcast: Microcast Monday - Fill Your Cup Up First

Hello everyone and welcome back to Microcast Monday. These short shows are designed to set you on the right direction for your day and week. Thank you for tuning into the Criminal Justice Evolution Podcast. We know you have many options but thank you for spending some of your valuable time with us. That is why we continue to grow and why we are a top ranked show. It you haven’t subscribed to the show, please do. Also, please take a moment and give us that 5-Star rating and review on Apple Podcasts. Special thanks to all the brave men and women who work in the criminal justice field. Thank you for what you do, especially in these difficult times. Remember you are honored, cherished and above all you are loved. We are are so honored to be partnered with a great company liked Detectachem. Detectachem is helping keep our brave men and women safer by offering mobile threat detection that fits in the palm of your hand. Detecting illicit drugs, explosives and now COVID-19. This application-based technology is a MUST have for your organization. Check out their link at www.cjevolution.com Take care of yourself first. Imagine you are a cup. The resources you earn each day is water. The energy, time, and resources you give to others are holes in the bottom of your cup. A cup that is losing water is a life filled with desperation, anxiety, and stress. But when your cup is gaining water you are happier, hopeful, and excited. If you give more each day than you get, your life will get worse and worse. Fill. Your. Cup. First. (Garrett Petticrew) How do you fill your cup first? Start by building your foundation. Your foundation consists of the following: Body and Mind – Exercise and meditate. Remember your body is the only one you will get. Take care of it. It’s your temple. Your body and mind control it all. Meditate. I love meditation. If you would have told me about it a couple years ago, I probably would have laughed at you. I don’t laugh anymore because it has worked for me and it will work for you. Sleep – Believe it or not you need it. Stop thinking you are fine with 4-5 hours a sleep. You aren’t. Deep down you know it. You are just in that cycle. I know because I was once there. Your body needs to re-charge and regenerate. It accomplishes this with much needed sleep. You should be getting 7-8 hours of sleep. And, if you are working Graveyards you can still get the sleep you need. You just need to make it a priority. Food – Food is the energy your body needs to operate at your peak. We all know what is good and bad for us, but many of us choose the bad. Start eating better NOW. Your body and mind will thank you. Remember – FILL YOUR CUP FIRST   Stay tuned for more great guests on The Criminal Justice Evolution Podcast   www.cjevolution.com   Patrick   Reference to this show   https://medium.com/@gpetticrew/how-to-become-independent-fill-your-cup-first-e29456f2cc16

Criminal Justice Evolution Podcast: Microcast Monday - No One Controls Your Happiness. YOU DO!

Hello everyone and welcome back to The Top Ranked Criminal Justice Evolution Podcast. Top ranked because of YOU, the listener and supporter. Thank you for tuning in and sharing this show, and others, with your family and friends. Subscribe to the show and give us that 5-Star Rating and Review on Apple Podcasts.  Welcome back to Microcast Monday. Remember Monday's are great days. It's day to reset. Reset in the right direction with a brand new day and a brand new week.  As we all reflect on this difficult year, I want you to dig deep into with your happiness. Are you happy? If yes, then great. If not why? Remember that YOU control your happiness. Not anyone else. Don't give that power away. Why would you? So many people look to alternatives for happiness and they don't realize that they have all the power. Your mind is powerful. Your mind is a magnet. Your thoughts will manifest into reality. If you are unhappy, don't focus on what is bringing you unhappiness. Stop giving it energy. Rather, focus on people, places, memories etc. that MAKE YOU HAPPY.  Also, decide to be happy rather than being right. Sometimes a friend, spouse or child might do something wrong, make a mistake etc. Don't focus on what they did wrong or the fact you were right. Just be happy. You can't control everything, but you can control your thoughts and how you react to life.  As you go throughout the day, practice being happy. Remember you have control over every aspect of your life.   Stay tuned for more great guests on The Criminal Justice Evolution Podcast   www.cjevolution.com   Patrick

I am so excited to have my next guest on the show. Rodger Ruge stopped by and Rodger says the following. “Employee assistance, peer support and chaplaincy programs are failing because they are not used to their full potential. These traditional programs have never successfully addressed the stigma of suspicion and “career suicide” that using those services can create. Rodger created HeroTalk which offers a way for First Responders to take back control of their personal and professional lives by empowering real-world solutions that you, The Hero Community, can put into daily practice. They are about helping you build a level of resiliency that goes beyond mere survival, they help you THRIVE.” In his previous life he was a 20 year, in the trenches, law enforcement veteran and survivor of post-traumatic stress. I’ve done just about every job possible in a law enforcement career…patrol, detective, street crimes, gang enforcement, mentoring, coaching, training management, motors and SWAT.With the diversity of his background, by far his most favorite form of service is teaching, coaching and EMPOWERING others to their grandest visions of whom and what they wish to become. His greatest joy is helping clients get 'unstuck' and to hold them accountable to their declared actions steps as they move toward their goals, dreams and desires. Ultimately, every REAL COACH works toward the day where their client possesses the tools necessary to making coaching unnecessary - where the client is empowered to achieve anything they set their mind too, and that moves the needle forward on Life in the most profound way possible. Rodger is also a podcast of the successful show, HeroTalk.org. Building resiliency for the First Responder Hero Community through my podcast, HeroTalk.org, my Life Coaching practice and my Mindfulness and Resiliency courses for First Responders.   Such a great show with Rodger Ruge.   You can find Rodger here: http://www.herotalkpodcast.com/   Stay tuned for more great guests on The CJEvolution Podcast www.cjevolution.com

I wasn’t sure if my next guest, Erik Salzenstein, was going to come on the show but I am so happy he did. At age 23, Erik found himself facing life in prison. With his back against the wall, he finally had to face his biggest enemy up until that point…..himself. Erik had to go to prison to find freedom, but the truth is, he realized he lost his freedom long before that day in the courtroom. He recognized we can be in “prison” without physically being in prison. He spent 4 years relentlessly pursuing personal growth, coaching, speaking, running workshops, and even being published in a newspaper for a speaking event while incarcerated. Erik is a powerful and dynamic inspirational speaker whose message focuses on helping people break from from the chains that are holding them back and start creating a life of freedom and impact. Erik is a dynamic speaker and incredible coach who radiates and brings out a special energy in all who he comes into contact with. It’s clear this was what he was meant to do. If you want to energize your team, motivate, and inspire them to start taking stronger action Erik’s signature talk “From Prison to Purpose” is an easy decision. Erik’s story is one that truly shows the power of change and what’s possible. From addiction, lack of identity, and no direction to a life of purpose, fulfillment, and impact. From defunding the police, to finding your purpose this is a must listen to show. You can find Erik here:   https://www.facebook.com/erik.salzenstein.351/ https://eriksalzenstein.com/ https://eaglerisespeakers.com/2020/08/06/erik-salzenstein/   Stay tuned for more episodes on The TOP RANKED Criminal Justice Evolution Podcast. =) www.cjevolution.com   Patrick
