Criminal Justice Evolution Podcast: Microcast Monday -Take the Higher Road

Hello and welcome back to Microcast Monday. Short bursts of inspiration and motivation to get you started for your week.  A special thanks to YOU, the first responder or criminal justice professional. Thank you for your hard work in these difficult times. Remember you are honored, cherished and loved. Keep up the great work. Ever have a questionable ID handed to you? Do you wish there was a way to check that document for its validity? I remember those times as a police officer when I was presented with what appeared to be a suspicious form of identification. Always take the higher road. Have you ever been slighted? Have you ever want to seek revenge on someone? This can and often causes strife and anger in you. This can fill your heart with hate. This can consume you. I have been there. I have said things or sent messages to people that I often regret. Although, I can't undo the past I can learn from my mistakes and take the higher road in the future. When I do this, I am at peace because I am no longer consumed with seeking revenge. I encourage you to do so too. The anger, revenge and toxic attitude only hurts one person - YOU. Take the higher road. I am not saying not to defend yourself in some situations, but I am advising you to take a pause before you take action and think - Is my response going to make me feel better and bring me peace? People who are positive and lift you up, not down. 2) Get physically active - No, you don't have to be in the gym for hours. Start with something easy - Like a brisk walk and build from there. 3) Learn new skills - Life is about continuing to grow and learn. 4) Giving to others - It can be as simple as your time. It can be as simple as giving your smile and positive attitude to others. 5) Pay attention to the present moment - This is essentially the core behind meditation. Criminal Justice Evolution Podcast: Time to Conduct a Search Warrant - On Yourself!

Hello everyone and welcome back to the Top Ranked CJEvolution Podcast. This show is top ranked because of YOU, the listener and supporter. Please continue to share with your family and friends, and give us that 5-Star Rating and Review on Apple Podcasts.  I am so proud of you for serving and protecting your community. It is a very difficult environment, but you go out everyday and do what you do. Remember that you are honored, cherished and loved. Please be safe and continue your great work.  As a law enforcement professional you are constantly being presented with various forms of identification. What if you could check that identification for authenticity? Now you can with SureScan Age ID. I am so excited to be partnered with Mark Baxter and his company SureScan. Contact SureScan for a free demo at www.surescan.us/cjevolutuion Feel overwhelmed? Are you abusing alcohol or drugs? FHE - Health and The Shatterproof Program for First Responders are here to help you. Getting YOU the treatment you deserve is our primary mission. Please reach out today at 844-650-1399 or me directly at 303-960-9819. All calls are confidential.  https://1bxqip36sc4m3f4wbi2m3axr-wpengine.netdna-ssl.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/Shatterproof-Brochure.pdf Everyone is talking resiliency which is good, but do YOU know what resiliency really is? Are you resilient? Because I thought I was too. I thought because I was a police officer I could handle anything life threw at me and I did. Until, I couldn't anymore. As humans, we aren't designed to see the trauma that we see on a daily basis. Think of a suitcase that you are packing. Sooner our later you won't be able to close that suitcase and items will start falling out. That is what happened to me, and sooner or later it can happen to you. The items I couldn't pack away started to manifest into bad habits and addictions.  Do an internal search warrant on yourself. Are you really as good as you say you are? A big part of resiliency is getting up and moving forward after a knockdown. However, many of us don't. We linger there. We let that one incident define us.  Remember you are more resilient than you know. There is nothing life can throw at you that you can't handle and work through with the right team such as The Shatterproof Program. Please take care of yourself and for once put yourself first. Go out and conquer your day, and your life.  Stay tuned for more great guest on The CJEvolution Podcast www.cjevolution.com   Patrick

Criminal Justice Evolution Podcast: Rowing Across The Altantic Ocean with LEO Mark Pfetzer

Hello and Welcome back to the Top Ranked Criminal Justice Evolution Podcast. Thank you for making this show very popular. If you would share with family and friends and give us a 5-Star Rating and Review we sure would appreciate it.  A big shout out and thank you to YOU, the Criminal Justice Professional. So excited to have Mark Pfetzer on the show. Mark is a full time Law Enforcement Professional in New Mexico with many dedicated and honorable years of service. Mark is one of those individuals that is making an impact with First Responder Health and Wellness. Mark is so dedicated to this cause that he and a team of first responders at rowing across the Atlantic Ocean as part of the Talisker Atlantic Whiskey Challenge. All for raising awareness and action for First Responder Health and Wellness.  Mark is also part of Guardian Initiatives who's mission and dedication is below:  Each and every one of us are served by first responders in our communities.  These men and women voluntarily enter in to a profession that we all know to be dangerous.  Gunfire, ambushes, fires, search and rescue missions, and emergency driving are all dangers of the job that the general public hear about and can understand. However, lurking in the shadows of these high profile dangers is a lesser known, but just as deadly risk.  The psychological traumas experienced by our nation’s police, fire, EMS, and 911 dispatchers can lead some down a destructive and all too often deadly path.  The consequence of seeing tragedy on a regular basis can contribute to depression, substance abuse, and other effects of post traumatic stress.  Tragically, for some, a false sense of hopelessness results in suicidal behavior.  The number of first responders who die by suicide is alarming and heart-breaking.  While data is available, it is believed to be incomplete as researchers predict the number to be far more than what is reported.*  More powerful than the problem is the reality that the effects can be prevented and the damage treated.  Through awareness, training, and treatment by culturally competent clinicians, first responders affected can move on to live full and satisfying lives.  It is the hope of Team Guardian, through this initiative, to make as big of an impact in this as  possible.    Such a great show!!   You can find Mark here: https://www.facebook.com/guardianinitiatives/    https://guardianinitiatives.org/resources    https://guardianinitiatives.org/2022-crew    Stay tuned for more great guests on The CJEvolution Podcast   www.cjevolution.com   Patrick

Please give us that 5-Star Rating and Review on Apple Podcasts and share this episode and the link www.cjevolution.com to your family and friends.  A big shout out and THANK YOU to all the brave men and women who serve in the First Responder Community. Please be safe and come home safe to your family and friends. Remember you are honored, cherished and loved.  As a first responder you and feel things on a daily basis that most people will never experience in their lifetime. This requires special treatment and care for our first responder community. This is what the team at FHE - Shatterproof for First Responders do on a daily basis. Their goal is to make our first responders better so they can continue to be their best for their families and communities. If YOU or someone you know is suffering please reach out to FHE Health -Shatterproof for First Responders @ 844-939-0985 or me @ 303-960-9819.  You are not alone. You are never alone.  As a retired law enforcement professional of many years I saw things on a daily basis that eventually started to bother me. Most first responders do and your emotions will come out sooner or later. As a police officer I was in my bubble. Surrounded by other cops all the time. But, as time went on and as I became friends with other members of the first responder community: paramedics, firefighters and dispatchers I started to realize and learn that we are all suffering from the same things, if we are suffering. Isolation, depression, addiction issues and suicidal ideation were reoccurring themes.  My next guest is going to bring you the Fire Fighter / Paramedic perspective on health and wellness for our brave heroes in the fire fighting / paramedic communities.  Jason Smith is on the show. Jason is the President of IAFF Local 4321 for Broward County FL. President Smith joined Broward County Fire Rescue in 2003 and has served county residents and visitors in every service area. He began his career as a  Firefighter/Paramedic and then rose through the ranks as an Acting Driver, Lieutenant, Captain, Battalion Chief and even Assistant District Fire Chief. Since the beginning of his career, President Smith has been diversified in all areas of the county, including Port Everglades, Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport, and the Special Operations Command. President Smith has also been the Planning Section Chief at the Sheriff’s Emergency Operations Center as well as being part of Presidential details.   President Smith started his union involvement in 2001, when he joined the IAFF local 3080. As a dues paying member in good standings, he attended meetings and was a part of the union body process. In 2003, he joined local 3333 and in 2005 was assigned his first position as Sergeant of Arms. This position allowed him to mentor, engage, and watch the union executive board (eboard) conduct business. After the resignation of a staff representative, President Smith was voted through the eboard to hold that vacant seat. Since then, he has held all positions within the eboard. In 2019, President Smith decided to run for President and ran unopposed.  As Vice President, he was able to represent members in various cases including internal affairs, grievances, union negotiations, and labor management. President Smith oversaw the FIRE OPS 101. This opportunity allowed him to demonstrate to elected officials what the fire service is about. In his continuing devotion to serving the community, President Smith has also been on education advisory boards and is currently on the Florida Retirement System (FRS) committee as a union representative in hopes of achieving reinstatement of benefits to members affected in 2015.  President Smith is also a licensed pilot. He has graduated with an Associate degrees in Emergency Medical Services and Fire Scien

Criminal Justice Evolution Podcast: Microcast Monday - Step Forward and Don’t Look Back

Hello everyone and welcome back to the Top Ranked Criminal Justice Evolution Podcast. Please take a moment and give us that 5-Star Rating and Review on Apple Podcasts. We would appreciate it.  A special thanks to all the brave men and women who work in the criminal justice field. Remember you are honored, cherished and loved. A big shout out to the Dispatachers who have a tremendous job and are often overlooked. Thank you! This is National Dispatchers Week, so reach out to a dispatcher and say thank you. Zig Ziglar said " If you are not willing to learn, no one can help you. If you are determined to learn, no one can stop you. "  Powerful words from one of the greats. We learn all the time, or we should be. What about you? Are you continuing to learn about you and your life? This moment in time is never going to return. What you do now can determine the course of your life. When it comes to mental health and addiction, do you think your recovery is magically going to come to you? It won't and it will never will unless you move forward and reach out. One of the most difficult things I ever did was reach out for help. It was very hard and I was ashamed. I was fearful. I know you are too. But, my recovery started at Shatterproof and my life took off from there.  You will get out of your recovery what you put into it like anything else.  If you are suffering, and you need help I encourage you to reach out. If  not me, then someone else but please do it. My next guest is John Simpson. John spent many years as dedicated correctional officer until he stepped away because, like so many of us, the job was affecting him. He turned to alcohol and other addictive behaviors to cope with his depression and isolation.  John ended at up at Shatterproof for treatment not once, but three times. There is no shame in returning back to treatment and everyone has their own journey. John is doing so well now. He is a board-certified surgical technologist, specializing in neurosurgery while currently living in South Florida.  He is helping other first responders with his work, and he is also the author of an amazing book:  Elephinity: The Saving of a Hero. Synopsis:  Two years after World War II, U.S Navy veteran pilot and hero, Benny James struggles to quiet the loud noises of war in his head. Panic attacks and the flashbacks of his horrific memories seemed to control his life. That was until his plane crashed over the pacific ocean, leaving him stranded as a castaway on a remote island. He has no choice but to learn the ways of Life Island and the extremely wise native people who inhabit it. With the help of an unexpectedly magical gift from a mysterious old man, this story will take you on a spiritual journey of adventure, hope, gratitude, and wonder, offering many life lessons along the way. Now is the time for you to embark on your own journey with Elephinity and maybe you too can find yourself in the process. Get his book here: https://www.amazon.com/s?k=elephinity&crid=2E66LKWRHW7GN&sprefix=elephni%2Caps%2C155&ref=nb_sb_ss_sc_1_6    You can reach John here: simp427@gmail.com    Stay tuned for more great guests on The CJEvolution Podcast   www.cjevolution.com   Patrick
