This experience, lead me to the development/ founding officer of the San Antonio Police Department Mental Health Unit in 2008. I am the primary subject in the two-time Emmy nominated award-winning HBO documentary, Ernie and Joe: Crisis Cops. Emmy winner for best editing. I’ve had the privilege of being featured on ABC’s Nightline with Byron Pitts and the NBC documentary, A Different Kind of Force. I co-authored Amazon’s Best Seller, Mental Health and De-escalation, A Training Guide for Police Professionals. Additionally, I’m a contributing author to the Amazon best-selling Mental Health category book, Police Mental Barricade. Patrick Fitzgibbons is a retired Police Commander and former Army Paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division. He is now a Program Lead for FHE Health in their Shatterproof Program for First Responders located in Deerfield Beach, Florida. He is passionate about helping first responders who are struggling, and he also sought treatment for his struggles. He holds advanced degrees in organizational leadership and business, and is currently studying to become a licensed mental health clinician in the State of Florida. Patrick also speaks to first responder organizations about health and wellness for personnel.
