He currently serves as the Executive Director of the First Responders Action Group (FRAG), a Veteran and first responder-focused nonprofit whose hallmark program, Veteran’s Justice Initiative, trains and works side-by-side with law enforcement agencies to recognize Veterans in crisis while avoiding the unnecessary criminalization of mental illness and substance abuse. FRAG is an initiative of The Verardo Group. Clark additionally is the Chief Operating Officer for The Independence Fund. Clark previously served as the Chief of Police for the Matthews, NC Police Department after retiring from the Frederick, MD Police Department as the Commander of the Criminal Investigations Division and SWAT Team. He earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from Mount Saint Mary’s University and a Master of Science Degree in Management, with a focus in Leadership Studies, from Johns Hopkins University. Prior to his employment with the Frederick Police Department, he served with the United States Army in the Military Police Corps for 6 years. He is a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigations National Academy, executive leadership program, Class #239, and PERFs Senior Management Institute for Policing, Class #79. The school taught that virtue, the highest good, is based on knowledge Much of the teachings and literature on Stoicism is still very relevant in our modern world. Are they bringing you up or bringing you down. You are the average of the 5 people you associate with. You need to be very careful who you let into your circle, because a lot of people want to see you fail. Remember the saying Misery Loves Company? Some people are just toxic and negative and you don't need that in your life. You want people to tell you like it is with empathy and compassion because they love you.  Do your People inventory today. Divide the list of people who are good for you and people who are bad for you. It's pretty simple. Upon impact, Jason’s car burst into flames, trapping him inside. Through a series of miraculous and fateful circumstances, Jason survived the crash and ensuing physical and emotional catastrophe. He suffered severe burns to over 40% of his body which drastically altered his appearance. He has undergone more than 50 surgeries just to have the ability to accomplish simple daily tasks we often take for granted. Jason’s journey chronicles his fight for life, his triumph over tragedy and the inspiration that enables him to continue to overcome unimaginable adversity. His personal narrative exemplifies that the power of the human spirit can never be underestimated or extinguished. His story is one of life, rebirth, and transformation. Melissa is a licensed social worker specializing in anti-human trafficking work, developing/maintaining multi-disciplinary teams, and secondary traumatic stress and officer wellness. Melissa is a certified trainer in Green Dot, Compassion Fatigue, GEMS, Stand to Protect, My Life My Choice, and SHARP, and is Child Welfare and Safe Zone/PRIDE trained. She has eight years of experience providing national/international training and technical assistance, and case management to victims of human trafficking. Melissa has trained over 12,000 students and professionals, and currently sits on the Badges of Unity Board for Fargo PD. Melissa's past experience includes treatment foster care, prevention education, and psychiatric and addictions. She was the first Human Trafficking Navigator and Victim/Witness Specialist in ND, with six years of program development within ND. Melissa was a nominee for the YWCA's Women of the Year 2020. I had the honor of having Andrew "Sully" Sullivan on the show recently. Andrew is the CEO of Community First Project and BlueForce Strategies. They provide law enforcement organizations with no-cost training in areas such as de-escalation, stress mitigation and management, target identification and other critical skills, Community First Project can give police officers the confidence and critical skills to continue safeguarding our communities. Senior Chief Special Warfare Operator (SEAL) Andrew Sullivan medically retired from the US military in 2020 after nearly two decades of service in the Special Operations community, including six years at SEAL Team Two and eleven years at Naval Special Warfare Development Group.  His many combat commendations include the Silver Star Medal, two Bronze Star Medals with combat valor, the Purple Heart Medal, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, six Joint Service Commendation Medals with combat valor, two navy and Marine Commendation medals with valor, three Presidential Unit Citations and numerous other joint and individual awards. Following his time in service, Andrew started BlueForce Strategic Action Group, a SDVOSB that provides tactical, security, and leadership consulting to the DOD, Federal, and Law Enforcement Agencies. Additionally, Mr. Sullivan has consulted with several organizations advocating for mental health treatment for Veterans and First Responders.
