Please be safe and come home safe to your family and friends. Remember you are honored, cherished and loved.  As a first responder you and feel things on a daily basis that most people will never experience in their lifetime. This requires special treatment and care for our first responder community. This is what the team at FHE - Shatterproof for First Responders do on a daily basis. Their goal is to make our first responders better so they can continue to be their best for their families and communities. If YOU or someone you know is suffering please reach out to FHE Health -Shatterproof for First Responders @ 844-939-0985 or me @ 303-960-9819.  You are not alone. You are never alone.  As a retired law enforcement professional of many years I saw things on a daily basis that eventually started to bother me. Most first responders do and your emotions will come out sooner or later. As a police officer I was in my bubble. Surrounded by other cops all the time. But, as time went on and as I became friends with other members of the first responder community: paramedics, firefighters and dispatchers I started to realize and learn that we are all suffering from the same things, if we are suffering. Isolation, depression, addiction issues and suicidal ideation were reoccurring themes.  My next guest is going to bring you the Fire Fighter / Paramedic perspective on health and wellness for our brave heroes in the fire fighting / paramedic communities.  Jason Smith is on the show. Jason is the President of IAFF Local 4321 for Broward County FL. President Smith joined Broward County Fire Rescue in 2003 and has served county residents and visitors in every service area. He began his career as a  Firefighter/Paramedic and then rose through the ranks as an Acting Driver, Lieutenant, Captain, Battalion Chief and even Assistant District Fire Chief. Since the beginning of his career, President Smith has been diversified in all areas of the county, including Port Everglades, Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport, and the Special Operations Command. President Smith has also been the Planning Section Chief at the Sheriff’s Emergency Operations Center as well as being part of Presidential details.   President Smith started his union involvement in 2001, when he joined the IAFF local 3080. As a dues paying member in good standings, he attended meetings and was a part of the union body process. In 2003, he joined local 3333 and in 2005 was assigned his first position as Sergeant of Arms. This position allowed him to mentor, engage, and watch the union executive board (eboard) conduct business. After the resignation of a staff representative, President Smith was voted through the eboard to hold that vacant seat. Since then, he has held all positions within the eboard. In 2019, President Smith decided to run for President and ran unopposed.  As Vice President, he was able to represent members in various cases including internal affairs, grievances, union negotiations, and labor management. President Smith oversaw the FIRE OPS 101. This opportunity allowed him to demonstrate to elected officials what the fire service is about. In his continuing devotion to serving the community, President Smith has also been on education advisory boards and is currently on the Florida Retirement System (FRS) committee as a union representative in hopes of achieving reinstatement of benefits to members affected in 2015.  President Smith is also a licensed pilot. He has graduated with an Associate degrees in Emergency Medical Services and Fire Scien

We would appreciate it.  A special thanks to all the brave men and women who work in the criminal justice field. Remember you are honored, cherished and loved. Zig Ziglar said " If you are not willing to learn, no one can help you. If you are determined to learn, no one can stop you. "  Powerful words from one of the greats. We learn all the time, or we should be. What about you? Are you continuing to learn about you and your life? This moment in time is never going to return. What you do now can determine the course of your life. When it comes to mental health and addiction, do you think your recovery is magically going to come to you? It won't and it will never will unless you move forward and reach out. One of the most difficult things I ever did was reach out for help. It was very hard and I was ashamed. I was fearful. I know you are too. But, my recovery started at Shatterproof and my life took off from there.  You will get out of your recovery what you put into it like anything else.  If you are suffering, and you need help I encourage you to reach out. Some people are born with a drive often seen in entrepreneurs, pro-athletes, inventors, adventurers and Navy SEALs. It’s in their DNA — research has shown that certain genes can manifest resilient and highly focused people who can also be impulsive and easily distracted. While these traits enabled our ancient ancestors to survive, if you have these traits today, it can create havoc in your life. You may be diagnosed with ADHD or OCD. But what the world tells you is a disorder may actually be your greatest gift. Dr. Doug Brackmann is a distinguished psychologist, author of Driven: Understanding and Harnessing the Genetic Gifts Shared by Entrepreneurs, Navy SEALs, Pro Athletes, and Maybe YOU and creator of the Driven Assessment and Shooting Meditation. With dual PhDs in Psychology, Douglas Brackmann specializes in practices that hone in on the genetic gifts of roughly 10% of the population. Dr. Doug has spent his entire career working with top performers to help them overcome their limiting beliefs, stop their cycle of shame, and achieve the ultimate personal and professional successes. He has now turned his sights on developing content, tools, and even a Driven community to empower Driven people everywhere to end self-sabotage and live the life they’ve always wanted.   Connect with Dr. Doug here: Email: meghan@IAMdriven.com www.iamdriven.com https://www.linkedin.com/in/douglasbrackmann/ 1(858) 735.1667   Stay tuned for more great guests on The CJEvolution Podcast   www.cjevolution.com   Patrick

If you have any questions or need more information, please reach out to me at 3039609819.   https://fherehab.com/services/first-responders/   Some many of us, myself included, try to look into the future. We look into the future to try to determine what is going to happen to use personally and professionally but we always fall short and we get frustrated. When I was in therapy at Shatterproof I learned that I needed to live more in the moment. I learned how to cherish each moment. Cherish and be grateful for what was in my world at the moment. You see even if you are going through difficult times right now there is so much to be grateful for.  Living in the moment and stepping back from the things we can't control will bring you more peace and happiness. I remember hearing the following prayer when I was growing up. It's called the Serenity Prayer: " God grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know there difference."  Go out and conquer your day, and live in the moment.    Stay tuned for more great guests on The Top Ranked Criminal Justice Evolution Podcast. www.cjevolution.com   Patrick

Criminal Justice Evolution Podcast: Microcast Monday: Stop worrying about what others think

Hello everyone and welcome back to Microcast Monday. I hope your day is off to a great start. Please be safe and remember you are honored cherished and loved. Thank you for your service to your community and your agencies.  If You or someone you know is suffering from mental health issues, addiction or both please reach out to Shatterproof - FHE for First Responders. This program saved my life and it can save yours too. Sure, I took the first step but Shatterproof walked with me and provided me with the foundation for my continuing recovery. Please reach out to Alex Menas from Shatterproof. (919) 717-0915 https://fherehab.com/services/first-responders/#:~:text=Shatterproof%20is%20designed%20to%20help,contribute%20to%20substance%20use%20disorders. You know when I was in some of my darkest places I was ashamed and fearful of initially reaching out for help. As a first responder I was taught and encouraged to bury my issues. You know what I am talking about. The hardest thing I did was reach out, and I am forever grateful I did. I was also very afraid of what others might think of me. Family and Friends. I then came to realize that I didn't care what others might think of me because my health and wellbeing were more important. I was grateful of the outpouring of support and love from family and friends.  Stop worrying about what others think. Sure we all want to be accepted but remember YOU you need to work on YOU first so you can be better for others.  Please be safe and stay tuned for more great guests on the CJEvolution Podcast www.cjevolution.com   Patrick

All the BS that was facing me, and wondering whether or not I would be able to get through it. I lived like this for many years. Maybe YOU are right now.  But something happened when I hit the bottom in my life. I realized that every trouble, challenge or defeat was making me stronger. You see, I don't believe that things JUST HAPPEN to me anymore. I believe life happens to me for a reason. To make me stronger and to provide me with the experience and education to move forward and hopefully not make the same mistakes. Life is not easy. It was never designed that way. Sure, there are highs and lows, but I believe that so much of life is the attitude we bring to it, and guess what? YOU CONTROL YOUR ATTITUDE.  So much of life is wrapped up with YOUR mindset. If you want to be happier, then change your mindset. Yes, it takes hard work and action but YOU control that. No one else.  I believe in YOU. I love you and will always support you. Criminal Justice Evolution: Bridget Truxillo, Fmr LEO, Lawyer & Founder of My Protective Wellness

Hello everyone and welcome back to The Criminal Justice Evolution Podcast. Thank you so much for the support. Please remember our first responders who protect and serve everyday, especially in this holiday season. A big Thank You to all the Criminal Justice professionals out there. Remember you are honored, cherished and loved. Please be safe!  It is such an honor to be partnered with Detectachem. This amazing company is helping keep our criminal justice professionals / military personnel safer with their mobile threat technology. This application-based technology is a must-have for your organization. Detecting illicit drugs, explosives and now COVID-19. Check out their link at www.cjevolution.com  I am very excited to have Bridget Truxillo on the show. She is the first guest I have had on the podcast in a long time and it was an honor talking with her. SPECIAL GUEST APPEARANCE: David III (Bridget's son) stopped in to say hi and wave. =) Bridget Truxillo is the Founder and CEO of Protective Wellness. Bridget knows the challenges law enforcement officers face, both outside and inside their agencies based on her experiences as a Deputy Sheriff in Gainesville, Alachua County, Florida. Bridget started out in Patrol, but very quickly transferred to the  Narcotics and Organized Crime Unit (NOCU), and also became the only female member of  the SWAT team.  During her time in the NOCU, Bridget routinely conducted undercover buys of narcotics and effectuated many arrest and search warrants as a result of her undercover operations.  While on the SWAT team, Bridget participated in serving search warrants, active shooter and hostage situations, competed twice in SWAT Round-up International  (an International SWAT competition), as well as many hundreds of hours of training. Although being a Deputy Sheriff allowed Bridget to serve the public, Bridget realized she wanted to find a way to serve the law enforcement and first responder community directly so she left law enforcement to attend law school as a means to glean the knowledge and skills necessary for this purpose. After 13+ years practicing law in civil litigation, Bridget was able to curate a unique business dedicated to representing and supporting law enforcement officers and first responders. Bridget is a graduate of the University of Florida (Go Gators!) with a B.S. degree in Environmental Horticulture (yes, she really likes plants), and the University of St. Thomas School of Law in Miami, FL with a J.D.  Bridget is licensed to practice law in Texas, Florida, New York and Louisiana, and lives in Houston, TX with her beautiful, smart, and fun husband and three kids. Grateful to be alive and grateful for all the close family and friends that are in my life and continue to support and love me. As many of you know, not too long ago I was in a dark place. I was depressed, stressed, fearful and I wanted to take my life. It wasn't until I reached out to my network that I found the place I needed to be. The Shatterproof program for first responders at FHE saved my life.    I love life now and I am excited for what the future holds for me. I am no longer fearful about what I can't control. I focus on what I can control and I take it day by day. My treatment taught me the tools to guide me along the way.    My new mission is to help the first responder / veteran communities more than I have been. Through my public speaking, coaching and podcast I hope to help in more of a direct way. You can find more information about these at www.cjevolution.com    If you are suffering or you know someone who is please reach out to TRUSTED friends and family. Do the following.  5 - See five things that are in front of you. 4 - Feel four things you can touch. 3 - Things you can hear. 2 - Things you can smell. 1 - Thing you can taste.   This is a powerful exercise that I hope you utilize throughout YOUR day.
