He is an American actor, motivational speaker, retired decorated United States Army Colonel. He attended West Point. He holds two master’s Degree’s; one is from Georgetown University. Gregory made his acting debut in the blockbuster movie, Battleship, a 2012 American science fiction naval war film, as Lieutenant Colonel Mick Canales, playing a war veteran who regains his appetite for the fight when Oahu is threatened by an alien attack. Director Peter Berg, having seen news articles about Gadson, decided to cast him as an army officer trying to recover from the loss of his legs. Imagine you are in this country to protect American interests and assets. Lastly, imagine all hell breaks loose one day and you are under attack. It was an honor to have Mark “Oz” Geist on the show. Mark "Oz" Geist is a member of the Annex Security Team that fought the Battle of Benghazi, Libya, from September 11 to September 12, 2012. A Colorado native, Mr. Geist joined the United States Marine Corps in 1984. During his time in the service, he served in Barracks Duty in the Philippines, then with the 2nd Battalion 9th Marines Golf Company, as well as the Surveillance and Target Acquisition Platoon. He then was chosen to serve in the newly formed Marine Cadre program as an Anti-/Counter- Terrorism Instructor. Upon the completion of a very successful tour and re-enlistment, Mr. Geist changed his military occupational specialty to the Intelligence field, specializing in Interrogation Translation. He attended language school where he studied Persian Farsi. After serving 12 years in the United States Marine Corps, Mr. Geist became a Deputy Sheriff in Teller County, Colorado. In that role, he was assigned as liaison with the Vice Narcotics and Intelligence Unit in Colorado Springs, Colorado, as well as an Investigator for Crimes against Children. Certified as a Forensic Interviewer of children, he investigated numerous case of abuse in which he helped to secure convictions of the perpetrators. He then took a job as Chief of Police in Fowler, Colorado. After leaving the Fowler Police Department, Mr. Geist began his own business in private investigations as well as bounty hunting and bail bonds. In 2004, Mr. Geist began doing contract security work in Iraq. He worked for Triple Canopy, providing Personal Security Details for Department of State personnel in Baquba, Iraq. Upon the completion of that contract he worked for USIS, the United States Investigative Services, training Iraqi SWAT teams and Personal Security Details. He also served as a mentor/advisor to the Personal Security Detail of Dr. Ayad Allawi, the former Prime Minister of Iraq. Mr. Geist finished his career as a security contractor in Benghazi, Libya, where he was credited with helping to save the lives of more than 25 Americans. Mr. Geist is still recovering from the injuries he sustained in the battle. He is a co-author of the bestselling book "13 Hours: The Inside Account of What Really Happened in Benghazi." If you do great, but if you don’t, I recommend you develop one. One that will fit your needs. My morning starts with the following: Gratitude – Before my feet hit the floor in the morning, I am going through a gratitude practice. I start will all the people that are in my life and go from there. This one practice can change your life. The more grateful you are the more of what you want will come into your life. Pray – I pray early in the morning after my gratitude. Meditate – I meditate for at least 10 minutes. There are many apps out there to help you get started. Here is one: https://www.calm.com/ Journal – I write down my daily goals and objectives and other important information that I want to accomplish – I also journal at night to recap the day. Work out – I spend at least 1 to 1.5 hours at the gym. Your body runs it all. You have to take care of your body. When you take care of your body you also take care of your mind. Like anything a morning routine takes time to develop, and it takes dedication. Remember any change in your life is going to take work. When you develop a morning routine / ritual it will soon become habit. Your habits and routines can change your life for the better, of worse. Develop your morning ritual today. What was the event in your life that propelled you forward or made you change? We all have Catalysts in our lives at different points, but most people either don't take advantage of them, or they ignore them. Your life is only going to change if YOU change your life.  Maybe you went through a divorce or separation. Maybe you lost your job or didn't get that promotion you wanted. These examples are tough to go through and I have experienced all of these. Paul is an Assistant Professor at The University of Colorado teaching in The School of Public Affairs and he is also a former Law Enforcement Officer. In this episode, Paul and I talk about a variety of law enforcement topics and Paul’s research focuses on police decision-making, human error and resilience in the context of potential use-of-force encounters with an eye toward improving outcomes. He has over 10 years of practical law enforcement experience, including time as an in-service instructor, field-training officer, patrol sergeant and department training manager. Paul is actively engaged in police research and training across the country and regularly presents to both academic and practitioner audiences. His early research received awards from the American Society of Criminology and the Division of Policing at the American Society of Criminology. Paul works closely with a number of local, state and federal law enforcement agencies in a wide range of consulting and training roles. He was talking about having confidence. Confidence is the difference between success and failure. Think about it. If you aren't confident in yourself why would anyone else be confident in you? Jeffrey is an American man from upstate New York known for having been wrongfully convicted in 1990 at the age of seventeen of raping, beating, and strangling Angela Correa, a 15-year-old high school classmate.   He made a false confession to police, which he withdrew, and his DNA was excluded from that left at the scene. He was nonetheless convicted, based on police testimony that he had confessed. He served sixteen years, although he continued to maintain his innocence and appealed his conviction. He requested post-conviction DNA testing, but the DA's office refused to accept his lay request. After a new DA was elected and Jeffrey gained support by the Innocence Project in 2006 DNA testing was conducted for Jeffrey. It excluded his DNA from the evidence at the crime scene. Significantly, the forensic DNA was found to match that of an inmate already serving time for murder. The latter man confessed to the attack on Correa and was convicted of her death. Jeffrey was exonerated and released in 2006. He has become an advocate for criminal justice reform. In 2014 a jury found in favor of Jeffrey and awarded him $41.6 million in a federal civil suit against the county for wrongful imprisonment. Due to his pretrial settlement with the county, Jeff was limited to receive $10 million.
