He then started to tell me he wished he hadn't made some of the mistakes he had in the past, and he started coming down on himself pretty hard. If only he had done things differently he kept telling me. We all wish we would have made different choices at some point, but we can't live in the past. Remember that your past isn't as relevant as you think. If you are a person who lives in the past, you have to get over it. You are wasting precious energy and time over something that doesn't matter anymore because it's already done. Today, I want you to do something. 1st - Think about the 3 biggest mistakes you have made. 2nd - What did you learn - Did deep. How were you made stronger? 3rd - What are the patterns you see? Are you falling into the same patterns? Then you have a good chance of making the same mistakes. What is the definition of insanity? Doing the same things you have expecting a different result. I am willing to bet one of the reasons for their success is their ability to develop, cultivate and sustain positive relationship, both within the community and within the agencies they lead. Sheriff Lott is the Sheriff of Richland County Sheriffs Office, which is one of the largest sheriff’s department in the Southeastern United States, and is often seen on the very successful law enforcement show, LIVE PD. Sheriff Lott lot has been the Sheriff of Richland County SO for 20 years. He is obviously doing something right and we dig into that, along with important topics, on this great interview. A little more information on Sheriff Lott. Sheriff Lott is a 43-year law enforcement officer who has served as the Richland County Sheriff for more than 20 years. In January 2018, the Richland County Sheriff’s Department (RCSD) became the first sheriff’s office in the country to conduct research on the impact of adding the words “PEACE OFFICER” to its fleet of 600-plus marked patrol vehicles. The success of this first-ever PEACE OFFICER identity initiative is now measurable.   Simple Cost-Effective Program Demonstrates Change is Possible   As part of a charitable initiative operated by the nonprofit Police2Peace, the RCSD study commenced in January 2018. The randomized controlled trial collected data from RCSD’s eight regions, which had the wording “PEACE OFFICER” placed on certain patrol vehicles and not on others. Data was collected through surveys of RCSD deputies, employees, and the citizens living and working within the county’s various communities. The objective was to gauge the impact on citizens seeing, and officers driving vehicles, displaying “PEACE

Years ago, Boyd went into a Navy Recruiting office in Colorado with a dream on his mind of becoming a NAVY SEAL. Instead of hearing words of encouragement, the recruiter laughed at him and told him he was too small, too weak and he would never become a SEAL. Thank God Boyd didn’t listen to that SHIT and instead used it as his fuel to become a NAVY SEAL, and then he went on to become a member of legendary SEAL TEAM 6 Community where he served with honor and distinction until his retirement. Highly respected and decorated, I had the honor meeting and speaking with Boyd at Conclave of Warriors in December. He truly is an American patriot and hero, and you are going to love the show. We talk about his amazing journey as a SEAL, life lessons for everyone, his work with Endeavor Life Sciences and the next steps in his life. More about Boyd. CWO4 (RET) Boyd Renner grew up in a one-stoplight town in Colorado and joined the military in 1988. After graduating Navy SEAL Training, he served at SEAL Team Two for four years and served over 23 years at NAVAL SPECIAL WARFARE DEVELOPMENT GROUP (Seal team six)  He earned every rank from E-1 to E-9, and then he transitioned to Chief Warrant Officer in 2010. Boyd served over twenty-eight years in the Navy before retiring in November 2016. Since 9/11, he completed ten tours in Afghanistan, two tours in Iraq, as well as deployments to Albania, Sarajevo, and to the Arabian Peninsula. In 2014 Boyd graduated with honors from Saint Leo University with a degree in Business Admiration with a focus on technology management. Last month he completed his master’s in project management at Penn State University. Boyd is a recognized keynote speaker and is a co-founder of Endeavor Life Sciences, a company that has patented a way to safely add DNA to a new or existing tattoo and jewelry.  He is currently the Chief Operations Officer at FINAO Coastal Group in Virginia Beach Virginia, where he resides with this wife of 26 years, Wanda. Dr. John Jaquish began his experience in life sciences after being told by his Mother that she had been diagnosed with osteoporosis. John, to help his mother, created a device to place axial loading through bone to safely cause osteogenic loading events. The device was to trigger the effects of high-impact loading, but without the risk of injury. After successfully reversing his Mother's osteoporosis, as part of his doctoral dissertation in biomedical engineering research at Rushmore University, he conducted four years of testing with human subjects focused on user comfort, biomechanics, and optimal musculoskeletal stimulation. I remember as a first responder, I thought I could get by on 4-5 hours of sleep a night and I did for many years. I thought with a little sleep I would be operating at 100%. Wrong! Your body needs it's sleep and so much is connected with good sleep. Your health, Your mindset and your motivation are connected for starters. Here are some benefits of good sleep: 1) You will have a sharper brain - When you don't get enough sleep you might have problems remembering details and recalling events. 2) Mood boost - When you get enough sleep you are generally in a better mood. 3) Healthier Heart - When you sleep your blood pressure goes down. When you don't get enough sleep your blood pressure stays elevated. 4) Athletic Achievement - Lack of sleep robs you of your motivation, which gets you to the finish line. 5) Steadier blood sugar - Not getting enough sleep can increase your chances of diabetes. 6) Germ Fighting - Lack of sleep can affect the way your body fights off germs. You can get sick more often. 7) Weight control - When you are well rested, your are less hungry. Is too much sleep bad? Too much of anything isn't good for you. Research indicates you should get at least 6-8 hours of sleep a night. Guilt serves a purpose, shame does not. 2) Admit you messed up - We all mess up at points, but stop blaming others. 3) Apologize to anyone you may have hurt. 4) Imagine what forgiveness would feel like. 5) Write yourself an apology. 6) Learn from your mistakes - Stop doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result. That is insane. 7) Be Patient - Don't rush things, especially the feelings of others. First you can't control it and when you rush things you will probably make them worse. 8) Don't try to change other people - You can't. In this episode of Microcast Monday I want to take a moment and talk about the "us versus them mentality." I had this mindset for many years where I thought if someone didn't work in the criminal justice field, or didn't have a gun and badge then they couldn't trusted. Over the years I learned how detrimental that mindset was, at least for me. Sooner or later you will leave this great profession and then what? Maybe you want to work in the private sector? Maybe you want to start your own business? Do you think the mindset of "us versus them" is going to help you succeed? Probably not. You have realize that most people are good and we deal with only the fraction of people that are doing bad. When this happens over and over our mindset becomes jaded. However,you can begin to recognize it and take steps to change or mindset. I am not saying compromise your officer safety, but I am saying it's good to develop and cultivate friendships outside of law enforcement. If you have the above mindset how did it develop? Do you know? Write it down and then realize that these are not reflective of society as a whole. Remember you can always change your mindset. Happy Thanksgiving Week and everyone be safe!
