Dr. Porcher is a retired New York City Police Lieutenant of 20 honorable years has done so much during his career. More on Dr. Porcher Dr. Darrin Porcher received his BA in Organizational Management from St. Josephs College, and an MPA from Marist College. In 2012, Dr. Porcher received his Doctorate Degree from Fordham University. His Dissertation is titled “Reducing School Misdemeanor Assaults in Urban Settings Through School Collaboration Between School Leaders and Police. The purpose of this study was to identify how urban high schools can improve safety and reduce the number of misdemeanor assaults among students. Dr. Porcher retired from the New York City Police Department as a Lieutenant after 20 years of service. In his tenure as a member of the NYPD, Dr. Porcher performed a multitude of tasks. Dr. Porcher was assigned to the New York City Department of Personnel. While assigned to the Department of Personnel, he constructed the New York City Police Departments promotional exam for the rank of Lieutenant. Additionally, Dr. Porcher was assigned to the New York City Police Academy in the rank of Sergeant and provided instruction for over 2000 recruits during a three-year period. During the terrorist attacks on Manhattan in 2001, he was responsible for the supervision and rescue and recovery of victims in the World Trade Center complex. Dr. Porcher is also a retired Officer with the United States Army Reserve. As a commissioned officer in the Army during a time of war he was tasked with ensuring his unit was prepared in various aspects of counterterrorism. Dr. Porcher constructed a series of homeland security, and professional development seminars for his military counterparts to ensure unit compliance. The scope of the training begins with the initial years in law enforcement, the terrible two's, PTSD, anxiety, depression, treatment, medication use, communication skills, preparing for retirement. This course is a must for every law enforcement professional on all levels and should be mandatory for all training academies. Dr. Killeen has recently begun a journey to create a more serene lifestyle for himself. Having been through some horrific disasters in his work, and having been twice diagnosed with cancer, I felt it was time to start his own journey for balance and peace in his life. While I am not trying to mitigate the severity of the virus, I do believe that there is a lot of hysteria and fear out there that is not warranted. In my opinion, the Fear and Hysteria that surrounds Coronavirus is much more contagious now.  We will get through this and this too will pass. We need to continue to come together as a community because that is what is going to get us through this. He then started to tell me he wished he hadn't made some of the mistakes he had in the past, and he started coming down on himself pretty hard. If only he had done things differently he kept telling me. We all wish we would have made different choices at some point, but we can't live in the past. Remember that your past isn't as relevant as you think. If you are a person who lives in the past, you have to get over it. You are wasting precious energy and time over something that doesn't matter anymore because it's already done. Today, I want you to do something. 1st - Think about the 3 biggest mistakes you have made. 2nd - What did you learn - Did deep. How were you made stronger? 3rd - What are the patterns you see? Are you falling into the same patterns? Then you have a good chance of making the same mistakes. What is the definition of insanity? Doing the same things you have expecting a different result. I am willing to bet one of the reasons for their success is their ability to develop, cultivate and sustain positive relationship, both within the community and within the agencies they lead. I believe so many senior law enforcement executives are lost to this. Either they don’t care, or they don’t believe its important enough to pay attention to. On to the show with Sheriff Leon Lott. Sheriff Lott is the Sheriff of Richland County Sheriffs Office, which is one of the largest sheriff’s department in the Southeastern United States, and is often seen on the very successful law enforcement show, LIVE PD. Sheriff Lott lot has been the Sheriff of Richland County SO for 20 years. He is obviously doing something right and we dig into that, along with important topics, on this great interview. A little more information on Sheriff Lott. Sheriff Lott is a 43-year law enforcement officer who has served as the Richland County Sheriff for more than 20 years. In January 2018, the Richland County Sheriff’s Department (RCSD) became the first sheriff’s office in the country to conduct research on the impact of adding the words “PEACE OFFICER” to its fleet of 600-plus marked patrol vehicles. The success of this first-ever PEACE OFFICER identity initiative is now measurable.   Simple Cost-Effective Program Demonstrates Change is Possible   As part of a charitable initiative operated by the nonprofit Police2Peace, the RCSD study commenced in January 2018. The randomized controlled trial collected data from RCSD’s eight regions, which had the wording “PEACE OFFICER” placed on certain patrol vehicles and not on others. Data was collected through surveys of RCSD deputies, employees, and the citizens living and working within the county’s various communities. The objective was to gauge the impact on citizens seeing, and officers driving vehicles, displaying “PEACE
