What was the event in your life that propelled you forward or made you change? We all have Catalysts in our lives at different points, but most people either don't take advantage of them, or they ignore them. Your life is only going to change if YOU change your life.  Maybe you went through a divorce or separation. Maybe you lost your job or didn't get that promotion you wanted. These examples are tough to go through and I have experienced all of these. But, after I reflected I realized these were events in my life that set me on the path to something greater.  Start looking at your setbacks as paths to a better you.  Take advantage of your Catalyst Events and build a better you.  Stay tuned for great guests this week and reach out to me at www.cjevolution.com   Patrick

This amazing company was created by a Law Enforcement Officer for Law Enforcement Officers. Check out their link here: https://www.thebadgelife.com/?ref=mps6ijw7ivep   "A man cannot be comfortable without his own approval" - Mark Twain. What was he talking about? He was talking about having confidence. Confidence is the difference between success and failure. Think about it. If you aren't confident in yourself why would anyone else be confident in you? You have to stop putting yourself down. The self-deprecating talk has to stop because it's not only not healthy for you, but it's not leading you anywhere.  Remember you are worthy, you are deserving and you can be the best person YOU want to be. You just have to have MORE CONFIDENCE.  Here are a few take-aways you can do right now: 1) Write down a favorite confidence quote and put it somewhere you can see it throughout the day 2) Find a picture of yourself when you were feeling confident. Maybe it was graduation from the academy. Maybe it was your wedding day. It can be any picture where you felt great and confident about the future. Put it somewhere you will see it all day.  You see it's not only important to see this quote and to see this picture, it's also very important that YOU FEEL the feeling of being confident.  Be more confident and change your life - for the better. Go out and conquer you day.  Stay tuned for more great guests on The Criminal Justice Evolution Podcast   www.cjevolution.com   https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/shyness-is-nice/201809/why-self-confidence-is-more-important-you-think

Created by a LEO for LEO’s, you are going to love their tank tops, hoodies and gym gear. Here is the link to The Badge Life. https://www.thebadgelife.com/?ref=mps6ijw7ivep   My next guests is Jeffrey Deskovic. Jeffrey is an American man from upstate New York known for having been wrongfully convicted in 1990 at the age of seventeen of raping, beating, and strangling Angela Correa, a 15-year-old high school classmate.   He made a false confession to police, which he withdrew, and his DNA was excluded from that left at the scene. He was nonetheless convicted, based on police testimony that he had confessed. He served sixteen years, although he continued to maintain his innocence and appealed his conviction. He requested post-conviction DNA testing, but the DA's office refused to accept his lay request. After a new DA was elected and Jeffrey gained support by the Innocence Project in 2006 DNA testing was conducted for Jeffrey. It excluded his DNA from the evidence at the crime scene. Significantly, the forensic DNA was found to match that of an inmate already serving time for murder. The latter man confessed to the attack on Correa and was convicted of her death. Jeffrey was exonerated and released in 2006. He has become an advocate for criminal justice reform. In 2014 a jury found in favor of Jeffrey and awarded him $41.6 million in a federal civil suit against the county for wrongful imprisonment. Due to his pretrial settlement with the county, Jeff was limited to receive $10 million. He has set up a foundation to work for criminal justice reform.   The award-winning short film, Conviction, tells the story of Jeffrey and this must-see documentary was made by Jia Wertz.   https://www.imdb.com/title/tt12269178/   You can find Jeff’s foundation here:   https://www.deskovicfoundation.org/   https://www.linkedin.com/in/jeffreydeskovic/   Stay tuned for more great shows on The Criminal Justice Evolution Podcast   www.cjevolution.com   Patrick

It was never designed to be perfect. Mistakes happen, but when an innocent person gets sent to prison based on a crappy criminal investigation and subsequent trial and then gets released years later, we all should demand accountability and answers. My next guest is Jia Wertz. Jia Wertz is an independent documentary filmmaker pursuing stories that explore wrongful convictions in the name of protecting the social order. She is currently investigating the vagaries and inconsistencies of the American Criminal Justice system through the story of Jeffrey Deskovic and other exonerees who have had their freedom restored at the cost of irreparable damage to their minds, relationships and families. Her debut documentary short titled Conviction premiered at the Greenwich International Film Festival and saw success on the festival circuit. The short was selected at numerous festivals including New Filmmakers NY, Cannes International Independent Film Festival, Independent Cinema Showcase, New York Cinematography Awards, Best Shorts Fest, among others, prior to being featured on Amazon Prime. The film is nominated for Best Picture, Best Cinematography, and Best Documentary Film at the Georgia Documentary Film Festival. She is currently in the final stages of post-production on the feature-length documentary of the same story. Jia is from Calgary, Alberta and currently lives in New York City with her husband and son. I have my days where I feel the opposite of upbeat and positive. Most people do. But, the majority of my days I feel great. I feel positive and optimistic for my future. And SO SHOULD YOU. Why? Because what is the alternative? Staying pissed off and negative? That is NO WAY to live your life and you have so much to be grateful for.  Remember you are in the place in your life because of your actions and YOUR THOUGHTS. Believe it or not, you are exactly where you need to be.  You can't control some things in your life, but you can control how you REACT to situations and events. You can control YOUR FEELINGS and YOU CAN control your thoughts.  Start feeling more positive. Everything always works out for the best.
